AStA Arbeitsbereich Kultur and NaTakallam presents:

Refugee Documentary with Discussion afterwards

A Film by Amanda Bailly
„A single mother named Sham shows us the consequences of closing our doors to families fleeing war. With no answer to her application for resettlement in the US, and every other path to safety closed off, a smuggler’s raft to Europe was the only way out.

8 Borders, 8 Days is her story; the intimate details of why a fiercely-determined mother is willing to risk her children’s lives for a better future and an immersive experience of their eight-day journey to safety.“

NaTakallam – “We Speak” in Arabic – is a social enterprise connecting Syrian refugees with Arabic learners worldwide over Skype. Beyond language lessons, NaTakallam seeks to build cross-cultural exchange and challenge stereotypes.

After the movie is shown, we will have a discussion with a partner from NaTakallam, where you’re all invited to talk and discuss with us together.
